About 20min drive south of Beaudesert, at the very end of Christmas Creek Rd is a car park. A rough track then follows the creek to the grave site of one of the initial survivors of the Stinson air crash back in 1937.
The creek has lush rainforest, palm groves and a few small waterfalls. Very scenic, and only gentle gradients along the walk.
It is not a groomed track however, so some fitness/agility is required. The walk is 2.5km each way.
You will need to bring food and drinks for your day on the track.
Meet at the end of the carpark at the end of Christmas Creek Rd at 8:30 and we can head on up the track, then afterwards catch up for a cake/coffee in Beaudesert on the way home.
For some background information on the history of the track, read Bernard Oreilly’s account of the rescue, it is quite sobering reading!
The track then continues upwards to the wreck site, but that walk is not for the feint hearted… So just the short walk to the grave and back would be the go. 🙂
